Leadership
I lead leaders. I have a variety of clients where I coach and train community leaders. I am able to see the big picture and work with a team to design a successful workplace with attainable goals. I have recruited, trained and managed staff and volunteers and am comfortable delegating tasks, working with diverse personalities and conflict resolution. I train leaders through the NM MainStreet Professional Development Certification Program and present at state and national leadership conferences.
Tourism
I work with state and regional organizations in asset development and target market identification for comprehensive marketing campaigns. I work with individual communities and organizations in developing unique brands and collateral materials as well as identifying target markets and creating marketing plans for MainStreet and Arts and Cultural Districts. My goal is to facilitate work with a core group in each community, or district, in identifying their unique position in marketing to residents, tourists, visitors (different from tourism!), and entrepreneurs/investors.
Public-Private Partnerships
My roles with clients require an intimate working knowledge of municipal processes. I work closely with city counselors and staff, community stakeholders, and financial partners to create and execute contracts, RFPs, state reports, budgets, events and projects.
Public Relations/Marketing
Communication and perception are key elements for any entity or community. I work with organizations and communities in establishing an Image Development Plan and/or a Branding Strategy. I can create, implement and oversee a public relations plan that includes communication strategies for municipalities, nonprofits, and small businesses. I assist in researching and identifying target markets and developing marketing plans for specific audiences. I have worked with events across NM and for the NM MainStreet program in advertising regionally and nationally through social media, radio, newspaper and magazines.
Event Planning/Implementation/Evaluation
I have extensive experience in all aspects of events from development through execution and evaluation and assist 10-20 communities with events annually. I help create unique marketing strategies and implantation plans for events and have developed a unique process to review the return on investment (ROI) for each event.
Small Business Development/Enrichment
I have experience in business recruitment, enrichment, and retention, but specialize in business branding, promotion, and marketing. Similar to destination marketing, I work with business owners to identify their unique position in the market and create a brand identity and marketing through storytelling.
Public Speaking/Training/Education
I develop curriculum and lead workshops for state and national platforms as well as certification training. I present regularly at local conferences and training seminars. Events I have spoken at include the NM Municipal League Clerks Conference, the Building Creative Communities Conference (partnership with NM Economic Development, NM Arts and NM Historic Preservation), Oregon MainStreet Quarterly Training, NMMS Executive Director Certification Training, NM Industrial Developers Association and the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Main Street Conference.
